November 2017 saw Jeffrey Tambor reportedly take a break from the set of Amazon’s Transparent, in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations.
Then there were the rumours that said that wasn’t the case.
Now, however, it’s official: Amazon has fired Tambor after sexual harassment allegations were made against him by a co-star and former assistant.
The news, reported by Deadline, comes three months after the accusations by former assistant Van Barnes and co-star Trace Lysette were made public.
Jill Soloway, the series’ creator released this full statement in the wake of Tambor’s dismissal:
‘I have great respect and admiration for Van Barnes and Trace Lysette, whose courage in speaking out about their experience on Transparent is an example of the leadership this moment in our culture requires.
‘We are grateful to the many trans people who have supported our vision for Transparent since its inception and remain heartbroken about the pain and mistrust their experience has generated in our community,’ she added.
‘We are taking definitive action to ensure our workplace respects the safety and dignity of every individual, and are taking steps to heal as a family.’
