At this time of year, with temperatures dropping and snow falling on the streets, the first thought on many people’s minds will be those that are homeless.

The latest statistics on homelessness have revealed that the number in London has increased the sixth year in a row, and with temperatures dropping below zero, many are struggling on the streets.

Although the government say that the numbers of homeless people has dropped since last year in the rest of England, homeless shelters are criticising the government as they see a record demand in rough sleepers seeking shelter.

Not only that, many of the homeless in the UK face severe abuse, with a high risk of dying young. According to Centrepoint, 47 per cent of victims of assault of physical abuse are young people.

Last year, we covered the plight of homeless people in the cold. You can watch our investigation in the video above.
