Crumble is a really English dessert and obviously the classic is apple. It’s something that everybody’s mum makes and makes you feel really at home. For this one I’ve added ginger to the crumble mix, but you could use cinnamon, or even mixed spice or allspice.

This is the perfect recipe for Bramley Apple Week.

Ingredients:

  • 100g Plain Flour
  • 100g Sugar
  • 75g Butter
  • 50g oats
  • 1 tsp Dried Ginger
  • 1kg Bramley apples
  • 100g Sugar

Method:

  • Weigh out all crumble ingredients and rub together or blitz in a food processor.
  • Peel and chop apples, put in a pan on medium heat with sugar, add a lid and cook down for 10 minutes.
  • Place apple mix into a baking tray and cover with crumble, bake at 180°C for 30 minutes or until golden.
