Lady Gaga’s halftime show at the Super Bowl saw her dropping 72ft from the ceiling suspended by wires, wearing a glittery sequined all body suit.
It was big on glitz and fun, but for some, strangely absent of her normal political outrage. However, I’d argue it was actually just right.
Over the political storm that Trump created during his campaign trail, a number of artists have spoken out vehemently against him, including Adele, John Legend and Shakira.

While their comments have been received well by some, many others feel they have no place to make sweeping statements when their lives are so far apart from the everyday.
For this performance then, Gaga kept it subtle and it worked far better than a middle finger or divisive statement that some others have used in the past.
Opening with“God Bless America“, Gaga followed it with Woody Guthrie’s Americana classic “This Land Is Your Land”—which, is a song that has become an anthem for protesters fighting against Trump’s proposed immigration bans and border walls.
While some might argue her platform offered more opportunity to speak out, The Super Bowl after all is still an entertainment space, and entertain she did, but while still carrying a message that she supports.
