Adele has beaten Beyoncé to win the top prizes at the Grammys, despite politics playing a large role during the awards ceremony.
Adele took five Grammys, including Album of the Year. She reluctantly accepted the award, and broke it in half to share with Beyoncé for her political album Lemonade.
She says she was ‘devastated’ after messing up an emotional tribute to George Michael at the Grammy Awards.
The British singer was forced to restart her performance, but she still received a standing ovation afterwards.
She went on to win all five awards she was nominated for, including beating Beyonce to Best Album for 25, but she said that belonged to her rival in the category – describing her as her idol.
David Bowie won four Grammys following his death last year.
Adele’s 15 Grammys means she becomes the first artist to win all the big three categories twice – following her success in 2012.
