Today marks 100 days until Prince Harry’s and actress Meghan Markle’s royal wedding, on May 19, where around 800 guests are expected to be present.
Their engagement was announced in November last year following a year long relationship beginning in June 2016.
The couple met on a blind date and were in a long-distance relationship until Meghan moved to London in November last year.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be busy putting all their plans in place for their wedding. This is what they’re planning right now.
INVITATIONS
The invitations are likely to be dispatched soon to the 800 guests, and while US President Donald Trump is not expecting an invite, former American leader Barack Obama might be included in the wedding list.
Other possible invitees include tennis star Serena Williams, actress Priyanka Chopra and Meghan’s Suits co-stars.
And while the couple may opt for the traditional royal invitations, Meghan may also decide on her own alternative style, as she has experience in calligraphy and crafting invitations for celebrity weddings.
The Lord Chamberlain’s Office will deal with the rest of the ceremonial aspects of the day.
BEST MAN, PAGE BOY AND BRIDESMAIDS
The Duke of Cambridge is expected to be Harry’s best man, or perhaps jointly take on the task with one of Harry’s childhood friends.
Prince William has already joked that he has yet to be asked by his younger brother.
Prince William’s children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte look set to be page boy and flower girl.
The bride may also choose the bridesmaids from her close set of friends and even pick a best woman.
CHRISTENING AND CONFIRMATION
The American actress will have to be baptised and confirmed in the Church of England before the wedding and also has the choice to be fully immersed in water or to opt for a small trickle of water being poured on her head.
THE SERVICE
The royal couple will also be deciding on the music, hymns and prayers for the wedding ceremony, which is expected to be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
They will also have to settle on their vows, while Prince Harry will have to decide whether to wear a wedding ring or not.
THE DRESS
Meghan’s stylist and close friend Jessica Mulroney (who runs a bridal store in Toronto) is said to have been helping the bride choose her gown.
One of the Queen’s favourite designers, Stewart Parvin is a candidate to create the wedding dress, followed by Roland Mouret, Erdem and Victoria Beckham.
FLOWERS
Peonies are one of Meghan’s favourite flowers, so it is likely that her floral bouquet will include the fragrant blooms, which are in season in May.
Also, as is tradition for royal brides, there is also expected to be a spring of myrtle from the original myrtle in Queen Victoria’s wedding bouquet.
RECEPTION
Prince Harry, known for his outgoing ways and exuberant socialising, will no doubt have plenty of ideas to hand. From the food to the cake and the seating plan, there is much to decide on for the wedding meal and the evening celebrations.
SPEECHES
The Prince will be putting pen to paper to write his speech for the reception and Meghan, an accomplished public speaker, is also expected to break with tradition and deliver her own as well.
MUSIC
Sir Elton John has reportedly cancelled two of the dates of his Las Vegas residency to attend the royal wedding, rising speculation that he could also be performing.
Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith amongst others have also volunteered to perform but no acts have yet to be confirmed.
SECURITY
Plans will already be in place for policing the grand royal occasion, with thousands of people expected to descend on the town of Windsor in Berkshire to catch a glimpse of the bride and groom.
The taxpayer picks up the large bill for security at the event.
SOUVENIRS AND OFFICIAL TITLES
The royal bride and groom will also have to approve Royal Collection wedding souvenirs, decide on a design for their cyphers and look at their Conjugal Coat of Arms.
Prince Harry will also have a discussion with the Queen about the couple’s future titles – most likely the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
