Woody Allen is suing Amazon Studios for dropping one of his films amid resurfaced claims that he molested his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow.

The 83-year-old is seeking over $68 million (£52 million) in damages after alleging that the film distributor has backed out of a multi-picture deal involving his completed movie, A Rainy Day in New York.

In Allen’s lawsuit filed on Thursday in New York, it stated that Amazon was “referencing a 25-year old, baseless allegation” against the director and that the company knew about these claims prior to signing the contract.

Allen has repeatedly denied the sexual abuse accusations that date back to 1992, when Dylan was seven years old.

He asserted that his affair with Soon-Yi Previn, who was one of his adoptive daughters and would later marry him, had triggered his ex-wife Mia Farrow to concoct the assault allegations in the first place.

Dylan has come forward several times throughout the years and maintained that her adoptive father is not telling the truth.

When the #MeToo movement spread virally across social media two years ago, Dylan wrote an op-ed piece for the Los Angeles Times titled “Why has the #MeToo revolution spared Woody Allen?”

This was in response to celebrities turning a blind eye to the accusations and offering their continuous support to the director.

However, actors and actresses have since come forth to publicly disavow Allen, including Timothée Chalamet, who stars in A Rainy Day in New York.

Last January, Chalamet, best known for his lead role in Call Me By You Name, announced that he would be donating his salary from the film to charities against harassment and assault, such as the Time’s Up initiative.
