A 70-year-old man has been charged after Nicki Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj,64, was struck by a car in a hit-and-run accident on Friday morning. Maraj sadly passed away in hospital on the Saturday, just one day after the crash in New York.
At a news conference, the Nassau County Police said they had traced Charles Polevich’s car, and he turned himself into the police.
The 64-year-old was walking on the pavement when he was struck by a car traveling in the same direction.
Polevich faces charges of fleeing the scene of a fatal car accident and taking measures to disguise his vehicle, AP reported.
Polevich surrendered Wednesday to Polevich’s Mineola home, Fitzpatrick said, after detectives used bits of surveillance footage to trace the car involved in the accident, a white 1992 Volvo station wagon.
