Boris Johnson received an awkward welcome in Brussels today when he was poked on the face by a reporter’s microphone.

Leading Brexit-backer Boris Johnson had just arrived to the EU foreign affairs council to attend the EU summit.

The Foreign Secretary told the journalists: “Thank you for moving your … I don’t want to accidentally bite one of your things.”

Mr Johnson also used the visit to discuss the case for more sanctions against Russia in view of a flare-up of violence in Ukraine between government troops and Russia-backed separatist rebels.

He told reporters: “We’ll be talking about Ukraine as well, talking about the recent upsurge in violence. Everybody is very concerned about that.”
