Explosion at the Polish Zabka supermarket killed five people in Hinckley Road last Sunday night, Leicester, could have been caused by an illegal alcohol distillery.
Three men from the North West,East Anglia and the East Midland, in their thirties- were arrested this Wednesday on suspicion of manslaughter. Polish Zabka supermarket blasted out around 7pm on Sunday night- injuring five locals and killing five. Residents from the neighbourhood explain the explosion resulted from an illegal alcohol factory located in the cellar. ‘According to my mate, vodka and gin was being made and that caused the explosion. The chemistry is pretty unstable and when it goes bang, it really goes bang.’ says Johnny P.
Police forces and Detective Inspector Michelle Keen are reaching out to people present on the scene moments before the explosion, hoping to get information of anything suspicious.
Mary Rajoobeer, 46, and her two sons living on the flat above the supermarket are still nowhere to be found. Leah Beth Reek, 18 and Viktorija Ljevleva, 22 year-old shop worker graduated from the university in Norwhich are also feared to be dead. All five have officially been reported missing.
Yesterday, the original cordon has been reduced- some businesses have been reopened and a number of people were able to return to their homes. Hinckley Road has also been reopened for traffic.
As the relatives of the five still missing have been informed and are being supported, police officers have arrested two more men today as investigation will continue for several more days.
