Al Qaeda Yemen leader Qassim al-Rimi has been killed, according to a statement released by the White House.

The statement claimed that Al-Rimi’s death will spur the elimination of Al Qaeda.

The strike was carried out in early January, but this is the first official news concerning Qassim al-Rimi’s death.

Al-Rimi, who had been tracked by US forces for months, was the leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula.

The US Government had put a $10 million (USD) bounty on al-Rimi’s head, as this was one of the most dangerous branches of the terrorist group.

Among other attacks, Qassim al-Rimi had claimed responsibility for an armed attack in December at the Naval Air Station Pensacola, where three American sailors were killed.

Trump has said that the US and its allies are safer as a result of al-Rimi’s death, but he has not given any information regarding the airstrike and how it was carried out.
