Tech giants Amazon and Expedia have both announced plans for major investments in the UK.

Amazon have said they will create over 5,000 jobs in Britain by the end of this year, a record for the company in the country. The expansion will put the online retailer’s permanent British workforce at roughly 24,000.

The announcement coincided with another investment pledge by travel company Expedia Inc. to expand its UK office space by 138,000 square feet, nearly double the existing space held by the firm.

The moves have come at a time of heightened concern about British investment in the wake of the Brexit vote.

The tech industry in particular had been described as vulnerable to the threat of the UK leaving the EU due to possible restrictions on hiring international talent that it could pose.
