It is no secret that Wetherspoons founder Tim Martin backs Brexit.

For a long time, he has been extremely vocal about his feelings towards the EU.

But now the pro-Leave businessman has began ditching European wines in favour of British and New World brands in his pubs. He’s even gone as far as taking Prosecco off Wetherspoon’s drinks menu – swapping it for a non-European alternative.

The business tycoon is currently on a tour of his pubs promoting the idea of a no-deal Brexit.

When in conversation with Owen Jones for The GuardianTim Martin said, “You never knew when EU law started and British law ended,” which was a reason for his pro-leave stance.

He also claimed it was hard to predict how well things are currently going with Brexit. “On the 29th March I’ll tell you – it’s predicting the unpredictable,” he says.

Mr Martin argues a no-deal with the EU will allow the government to slash import tariffs, leaving the country better off.

So, what does this mean for Wetherspoons customers? Well all is not lost, unless you wanted to take a sip of French wine – or enjoy a glass of Prosecco.

Their infamous floral plates look like they’re here to stay – bring on the chips!
