Authorities in Germany are searching sites that are linked to five people they suspect of forming a “right-wing terrorist organisation”.
Federal prosecutors said the suspects had been planning attacks against minorities and politicians. According to prosecutors, the organisation had formed in September 2019 with the intent of ousting the German state and attacking social order in the country to “provoke a civil war-like situation.”
Eight additional people are also being investigated on suspicion of offering financial support, soliciting weapons or promising to join in future attacks. In addition, the home of a non-suspect was searched in Bavaria.
Update: German public broadcasters ARD and SWR reported that suspects have been discussing ideas of the attacks online and even shared photos of homemade weapons. German police said the men are aged between 20 and 50.
