Here’s your afternoon football update…

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled out Fabinho for his side’s trip to West Ham this weekend. He said there was a “glimmer of hope” about Joel Matip as they await the results of his scan. Liverpool are already without senior centre backs Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez and the German has two more days to delve into the transfer market if he is to reinforce his defensive options.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has called for action from social media companies after his players, Anthony Martial and Axel Tuanzebe, were subject to racist abuse online after Manchester United’s 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield United.

Harry Kane is set to miss out for weeks after injuring both of his ankles during Spurs’ 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last night. Tottenham now sit in sixth place in the Premier League and will be without their talisman for “a few weeks” according to manager Jose Mourinho.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku have received a one-match ban after the pair clashed in the Coppa Italia in Tuesday’s Milan derby.

AC Milan’s Ibrahimovic denied using racist language, but this could be subject to investigation. He picked up his ban after being sent off in the game for two bookable offences and Lukaku was also banned as it was his second yellow card in the competition.

That’s all for your afternoon football update!
