Former One Direction singer Harry Styles has been announced as the next curator of the Southbank Centre’s Meltdown festival.

Styles, a singer and actor, is the latest artist to be invited curate the London festival. Set up in 1993, Meltdown aims to capture “the creative energy of its moment and the interests of the curator”.

Previous editions were curated by artists including Little Simz, David Bowie, Nile Rodgers and Robert Smith of the Cure. The event will host “11 days of music, dancing and community” according to the events website.

Upon the announcement, the singer said: “My goal as the curator is to share the music and art that I love. To celebrate the rich history of the venue. We both share a passionate belief that music is a vital part of life. It brings us together and the Southbank Centre has been at the heart of it, providing easy access to great music for the past 75 years.”

Mimi the Music Blogger called it a “big moment” for Harry, suggesting that its the perfect opportunity to showcase his new upcoming album.

The festival line up will showcase Styles influences, ranging from rock to electronic music.

The festival will run for 11 days from 11th to 21st June 2026. More information on the line up and dates for ticket release will be announced later in spring.
